Star Wars Outlaws: Rancor Boss Fight Guide

After rescuing Nix during the Partners quest in Star Wars Outlaws, you'll face a boss battle against Jabba's Rancor and will need to collaborate with Vail, the bounty hunter, to defeat it and escape the palace.

Unlike typical fights, you can't simply blast your way out, as the Rancor is impervious to your blaster shots. You must utilize environmental objects to outwit the Rancor. If you're struggling to figure out the strategy, this guide provides the necessary information.

You'll quickly realize that your blaster is ineffective against the Rancor. Even Kay acknowledges this at the beginning of the fight.

The key is to lure the Rancor into ramming into the large chamber doors. To do this, you need to provoke the Rancor to charge, much like an enraged bull.

There are two moving rails on the ceiling above you that transport large fuel canisters. When a canister is near the Rancor, shoot it. The canister will explode, angering the Rancor.

You have a short window of time while the Rancor recovers from the explosion to run towards the doors and anticipate its lunge. The white angry-face icon above the Rancor, with a filling red meter around it, indicates an impending charge. Once the red circle is full, the Rancor will charge.

When the Rancor approaches the door, dive out of the way. You'll then witness a cutscene where the Rancor slams into the doors, slightly denting them.

After the cutscene, the Rancor will chase you again, but three Hutt guards will appear. Eliminate them quickly with your blaster to focus on the Rancor.

The canisters above will start moving again. Repeat the previous steps, and the doors will move further.

After hitting the chamber doors a second time, the rail carrying the fuel pods will stop moving. Vail instructs you to restart the system by pulling a lever.

The lever is on the opposite side of the room from Vail. Use Nix's sense to locate it, then send Nix to flip the lever.

Once Nix flips the lever, the fuel pods above will begin moving again. Destroy one with your blaster near the Rancor, wait for the Rancor to charge at the doors, and move out of the way.

The Rancor will hit the doors a final time, knocking it out and creating an opening for you and Vail to escape.
