Metal Gear Solid Remasters: Mouse & Keyboard Support Added

Highlight

  • The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection finally offers resolution options and support for mouse and keyboard.
  • The collection drew criticism upon its release for its high price tag combined with a lack of options.
  • Version 2.0.0 for both Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 has been released.
The remastered versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater from the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection now support mouse and keyboard, over a year after release.
Version 2.0.0, the update title for both games, introduces various improvements. It adds settings to change the game's resolution, which was absent in the original releases.

Finally, Some Choices

You can select the original preset, the adjusted preset using your monitor's highest resolution, or a custom preset for more precise resolution adjustments. This was a highly requested feature, especially for those with high-resolution monitors. However, you can't change your resolution after starting the game due to stability issues.
Finally, both remasters now support mouse and keyboard input, having previously only supported controllers. You can also rebind your controls in the menu. Alongside resolution options, this was another feature the MGS community was requesting.
The Remaster Collection faced criticism upon release for its $60 price tag and lack of features, particularly compared to projects like the Tomb Raider remasters. Version 2.0.0 appears to address these concerns.
Though the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection might not have had a perfect reception, there's considerable anticipation for the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, scheduled for release in 2024.
However, our own Jade King was disappointed by the remake's faithfulness to the original in their preview. They believe Konami missed an opportunity to innovate, which might harm Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
