Fortnite Birthday Quests Guide: Free Pickaxe!

Epic Games is celebrating Battle Royale's seventh birthday from today until October 1st with new Birthday Quests that give players lots of XP and free cosmetic items, including a new emote, back bling, and a pickaxe.

There are six quests, most are easy but one might be bugged or needs luck. This guide explains each Birthday Quest and its rewards.

All the Birthday Quest Rewards in Fortnite

Here are the rewards you can get:

Emote: Birthday Bud (1 Completed quest)

Pickaxe: Cake Globberer (3 Completed quests)

Back Bling: Sprinkly Space Cake (5 Completed quests)

You only need to complete five out of six quests to get all the rewards.

How to Greet the Bus Driver on His Birthday

The first quest requires wishing the Bus Driver a Happy Birthday seven times. You can do this by using any emote while on the bus, like thanking the Bus Driver. Repeat this in seven different games.

How to Give Birthday Presents or Open Treasure Chests

The second quest asks you to either throw seven Birthday Presents or open seven chests. Since Birthday Presents are rare, it's easier to open seven chests.

How to Fly Far Using Balloons from the Birthday Medallion

This is the hardest quest because it requires a Birthday Present, which can be found in chests or as ground loot. These presents don't have fixed locations and depend on luck.

To start, find a Birthday Present and drop it on the ground. Inside, you'll discover a Birthday Medallion that will automatically attach balloons to you. Jump to propel yourself through the air and travel 777 meters to finish this quest.

How to Consume Birthday Cake

For this quest, you must consume seven slices of birthday cake. Ten birthday cakes are positioned in the center of various Named Locations, each surrounded by slices for health and shield restoration. Eat seven slices to complete this challenge. The image below reveals the locations of all birthday cakes.

How to Let Go of or Burst Balloons

This quest requires you to release or pop seven balloons. To release a balloon, use the Birthday Medallion and press ‘Ctrl’ (on PC) to detach a balloon. To pop balloons, use your pickaxe to hit or shoot balloons located around each birthday cake.

How to Unmask Players with Flare Gun Fireworks

The final quest involves revealing seven players using the Flare Gun. According to Epic Games, the Flare Gun can only be found inside Birthday Presents. However, this quest may be bugged or we've been incredibly unlucky, as we haven't discovered any Flare Guns in the presents we've found so far. Instead, we've only found random epic weapons and the Birthday Medallion.

The good news is that completing this quest isn't essential to earn all the rewards. You can unlock everything by finishing the other challenges.
