Dead Rising Deluxe: 10 Toughest Achievements

Similar to Lollipop Chainsaw RePop's achievement list, Capcom has made the difficulty of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster easier than the original Dead Rising. The achievement list has many changes, with some achievements being removed and others having easier requirements.
The improved save system helps a lot, especially with auto-saves. It's still difficult for new players, and there's one achievement that's both easier and harder than in the original game. If you're a returning player, this change in achievement difficulty will be a surprise.

Zombie Annihilator

The First Big Achievement to Earn

Value

Description

20G/Gold

Defeat at least 53,594 zombies.

If you're an achievement/trophy hunter, you'll want to get the Zombie Annihilator achievement as soon as possible. Achieving this early will make all other achievements easier. To kill 53,594 zombies, you'll need to grind zombie kills in the maintenance tunnels using vehicles. The best spot for this is in the top left section, where there are a lot of zombies.
Drive the red car into the tunnels, grind the spot for two runs back and forth, then head far east and get into the white car. Grind the spot with that vehicle, and afterward, use the truck located in the same spot to grind until you head outside to repeat the process. It takes a long time, but you'll get the Real Mega Buster, the second-best weapon in the game.

Snuff Shot B

A Very Easy to Miss Achievement

Value

Description

20G/Bronze

Encounter zombie Brad.

There are a couple of missable story achievements in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and the first one is Snuff Shot B. After disposing of all the bombs in Case 7-2, you'll see a cutscene of Brad getting shot by Carlito and surrounded by zombies.
After this cutscene, go back inside the maintenance tunnels and head to the area where the maintenance tunnel key is located. You'll find Brad on the verge of death, eventually turning into a zombie. You'll get the Snuff Shot B achievement right after the cutscene. Many players will miss this because they won't think about going back inside the tunnels.

Snuff Shot J

Another Achievement You Can Easily Miss

Value

Description

20G/Bronze

Encounter zombie Jessie.

This next achievement is more likely to be achieved naturally, but many will still miss it. After completing The Facts, go directly to the security room. You'll see a number of cutscenes involving Jessie, with her eventually becoming a zombie. Once you arrive in the security room, zombie Jessie should appear from a door in the main monitor area.
Many players will naturally complete this achievement after finishing The Facts, as all you need to do in 72-hour mode is wait for the helicopter to pick you up. However, many will also stay at Carlito's hideout, which is safer at this point in the game; plus, you need to stay there to get Ending A.

Full Set

Unlocks Later Than You Might Expect

the-fully-completed-notebook-in-dead-rising-deluxe-remaster.webp

Value

Description

20G/Bronze

Collect all portraits in the Notebook.

Collecting all the character portraits is something you'll do during your all survivors and psychopaths playthrough needed for other achievements. The problem with Full Set, though, is that it doesn't unlock when you actually collect all the portraits.
In order for the achievement to actually pop, you must go inside the menus and head to the Notebook section. Then the achievement will pop, which is a bit weird, but once you know that, you should be all good.

Karate Champ

More Difficult Than the Original

Value

Description

20G/Bronze

Defeat at least 30 special forces barehanded.

In the original Dead Rising, Karate Champ forced you to kill 1,000 zombies barehanded. That already took a long time, and while Deluxe Remaster shortened the time required for this achievement, Capcom made it significantly harder.
Instead of killing 1,000 zombies, you must kill 30 special forces members, which are far deadlier enemies. Karate Champ is one achievement you'll want to use the autosave function for because the special forces can kill you so fast, and they take even longer to dispatch due to killing them barehanded.

Saint

The Perfect Gameplay

Value

Description

20G/Gold

Get at least 50 survivors out of the mall.

After getting the Real Mega Buster, you'll want to do a perfect run, killing all psychopaths and rescuing all the survivors for maximum achievement optimization. You'll get all the story-related achievements, the achievement for killing ten psychopaths, and the Saint achievement. Now, this may appear simple, as escorting survivors is way easier than the original.
Besides the cultists with dynamite in hand, escorting survivors is a breeze. The problem is with unannounced scoops, meaning you'll still need to use a guide to find the survivors Otis doesn't call you about. Like the original, you'll get the Saint achievement after beating Overtime mode as Frank and Isabela will add to that 49 number, so you'll have 51 in total.

Juice Freak

Another Achievement Requiring a Guide

Value

Description

20G/Bronze

Create all types of mixed juice.

Mixed juices, while incredibly useful, are often overlooked by Dead Rising players. They restore a significant amount of health and provide various beneficial effects. However, their creation requires knowledge, which the game doesn't readily provide. Players must either experiment or use a guide, the latter being a quicker option for achieving related objectives.
The Deluxe Remaster introduces a new challenge with PP Stickers, which are scattered throughout the game. While their locations remain unchanged from the original game, triggering them on your camera can be very difficult, especially in areas like Wonderland Plaza and the Clock Tower.

PP Collector

The Most Difficult Collectible in the Game

Value

Description

20G/Bronze

Photograph all PP Stickers.

The PP marker on your camera may only appear at a specific distance, making it frustrating to locate. Fortunately, the game displays all locations in the menu. Furthermore, finding some PP Stickers requires capture by the cultists, a fact that may be overlooked by some players.
The PP marker on your camera only appears when you're at the right distance. This can be frustrating, but thankfully all locations are listed in the menu. It's important to know that you need to be captured by the cultists to find certain PP Stickers, a detail not everyone is aware of.

The Grateful Eight

Not the Most Convenient Achievement to Obtain

Value

Description

20G/Bronze

Simultaneously escort 8 female survivors.

The Grateful Eight achievement, while easier than its original counterpart, Frank The Pimp, still presents a challenge. Its annoying aspect lies in the incompatibility with perfect runs due to the routing not accommodating it. Therefore, players must dedicate a separate playthrough to acquire it.
To achieve the Grateful Eight, players can use the traditional strategy of rescuing sisters in Paradise Plaza, women in Wonderland, and the female cultist captive. However, utilizing the time skip mechanic can accelerate the process, making the platinum journey more manageable.

7 Day Survivor

The Most Infamous Achievement Returns With a Twist

Value

Description

20G/Gold

Survive for at least 7 days.

The most notable difficulty adjustment in the Deluxe Remaster concerns the 7 Day Survivor achievement. Originally requiring 14 hours of uninterrupted play, the Deluxe Remaster eliminates this requirement, allowing players to reach seven days in approximately three and a half hours thanks to the time skip feature. However, Capcom significantly increased the overall difficulty, compensating for the time reduction.
After 3 days, cultists and special forces will show up at the mall. This means you'll need to be more careful about where you go to find food because the special forces are very dangerous. The restroom in the movie theater is a good safe spot, and you can use it to get to Leisure Park. But be careful, because a strong group of special forces could end your Infinity mode run.
