Finding the Yellow Loong

The Yellow Loong performs a variety of combos with his glaive, typically consisting of three to four slashes and thrusts.

Note his stance before he executes the combo, as it signals how he will come at you. In general, three well-timed rolls should help you fully dodge the entire combo.

Flying Lightning Dashes

The Yellow Loong holds his glaive upright, triggering a lightning explosion before launching five high-speed flying dashes toward the Destined One. On the final dash, he crashes down with a heavy slam.

Preparing for the Yellow Loong Fight

For maximum effectiveness against the boss, prioritize weapons that boost critical hits. The Chitin Staff is a solid choice, but if you've defeated the Violet Spider, the Spider Celestial Staff is superior due to its significantly increased critical hit boost.

The core strategy revolves around maximizing critical damage. Yellow Loong has high defense and limited attack openings, making critical hits crucial. To enhance damage output during these opportunities, use Tiger Subduing Pellets and Amplification Pellets.

The Golden Set armor complements this critical hit build while providing a decent defense foundation. However, it lacks shock resistance, a vital attribute for this fight. Therefore, craft some Shock-Quelling Powder and visit Xu Dog to bolster shock resistance before engaging the boss.

For your drink, opt for the Jade Essence mixed with Turtle Tear and Stranded Loong's Whisker Soak to maintain mana and enhance the Immobilize spell. For Curios, stick with Cat's Eye Beads and Tiger Tally, proven effective against other bosses and beneficial here as well.

Upon entering the arena, take a moment to prepare. Yellow Loong won't initiate the fight until you cross the initial debris. Utilize this pause to apply buffs and begin the battle with a fully charged heavy attack from the Smash Stance.

Be wary of his hidden grab attack that follows any successful parry with Rock Solid. This attack is fatal, so either retreat after parrying or use Cloud Step to avoid it entirely.

Once you've mastered Yellow Loong's attack patterns and reduced his health to 70%, the fight intensifies. Yellow Loong becomes more aggressive, chaining unpredictable combos. If overwhelmed, immobilize him to regain composure and inflict safe damage with a full light attack combo.

Continue this pattern of avoiding attacks and dealing damage at the end of the Yellow Loong's combos. Soon, the fight will reach its final stage. You'll want to use your most powerful moves - A Pluck of Many spell and the Umbral Abyss Transformation.

Your duplicates will attack him, and as the Macaque Chief, you'll deal massive damage without worrying about dying. You will soon defeat this tough opponent just like his brethren.

Yellow Loong Defeat Rewards

For defeating the Yellow Loong, you're rewarded with loot worthy of a battle against such a powerful enemy. The main prize is his glaive, which grants you the Golden Lining transformation spell, letting you temporarily take on the Yellow Loong's form.

Along with a Loong Pearl and Mind Core crafting material, you'll also obtain Kun Steel and Sea-Supporting Tendon - key ingredients needed to craft the Legendary Golden Loong Staff. Finally, you'll receive the Golden Carp Curios, which increases the rate at which materials drop from defeated enemies.
