Animal Crossing: New Leaf Collab Villagers We Want Back
While "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" featured a diverse cast of villagers, some beloved characters from "Animal Crossing: New Leaf" and its "Welcome Amiibo" update were absent, missing out on the opportunity to live on an island.
We fondly remember these absent villagers and eagerly anticipate their return in future "Animal Crossing" installments. With the next generation of Nintendo Switch on the horizon, we hope to see some of our favorite villagers make a comeback.
10 Filly
The 7-Eleven Heroine
- Birthday: July 11
- Zodiac: Cancer
- Favorite Song: K.K. Samba
Filly, a normal horse villager, was introduced as part of a collaboration with 7-Eleven in "Happy Home Designer." She later appeared as an RV-driving villager in "New Leaf," inviting players to her campground.
Unfortunately, Filly cannot be invited to live in your town, one of only two villagers with this limitation. However, it would be thrilling to see her alongside other hero-themed villagers like Kid Cat and Agent S, forming a superhero team to protect your new town in future "Animal Crossing" adventures.
9 Felyne
The Laziest Hunter
- Birthday: Jan. 6
- Zodiac: Capricorn
- Favorite Songs: K.K. March (Happy Home Designer), K.K. Adventure
Felyne, a lazy cat villager, was added as a crossover with the "Monster Hunter" series. His name is shared by the bipedal feline companions in the series, known for their assistance in the game's challenging world.
Felyne may want to become a monster hunter like the series that inspired him, but his skills show he's better at befriending cats. His house may seem intimidating with Monster Hunter-themed furniture, but it's hard not to like this laid-back feline. Hopefully, in the next game, he'll be befriending more than just fellow cats. Hopefully, he'll be our friend too.
8 Holden
The Fueki Hamster
- Birthday: June 11
- Zodiac: Gemini
- Favorite Song: K.K. Samba
Holden is a jock hamster added as part of a collaboration with the Japanese company Fueki. Like Filly, Holden can never move to your town, but he can offer you Fueki-themed items from his camper.
The hamster never returned for a glue-loving life on the island, but you can't help but admit the little guy would be perfect for a kidcore town with his flashy red and yellow color scheme, provided Fueki was willing to participate in another collab.
7 Cece
Keeping It Fresh
- Birthday: May 28
- Zodiac: Gemini
- Favorite Song: Bubblegum K.K.
Cece is a peppy squirrel designed to look like the Squid Sister Callie from the Splatoon series, so it makes sense that she can only visit your campground when Callie's amiibo is scanned.
With her older sister Viche, Cece makes two parts of one whole - cosplaying the Inkopolis-famous Squid Sisters. With the four octopus villagers who made it into New Horizons and the fifth who was left out, Cece could make your new town "stay fresh" if you went for a Splatoon-inspired look.
6 Viche
The Tide Goes Out
- Birthday: July 7
- Zodiac: Cancer
- Favorite Song: Bubblegum K.K.
Viche is a squirrel villager, similar to a regular villager, who is half of the Squid Sisters. Dressed as Marie from Splatoon, she appears in your New Leaf campground when you scan Marie's amiibo.
Viche and her sister, Cece, are named after the seafood dish "ceviche", just like the Squid Sisters Callie and Marie's names are a play on "calamari." Together, they could transform your Animal Crossing town into a setting for the Squid - or Squirrel - Sisters.
5 Inkwell
Time For A Splatfest
- Birthday: June 2
- Zodiac: Gemini
- Favorite Song: K.K. Adventure
Inkwell is an athletic octopus villager, and the only octopus who didn't make it to New Horizons' island life. You can bring him to your New Leaf town from your campground by scanning one of three Inkling amiibos.
This athletic villager is eager for a Splatfest competition, with his signature phrase being "splat", and would perfectly fit alongside the other four octopus villagers and the Squirrel Sisters in a Splatoon-themed town if he were to return. Nintendo could definitely create more Splatoon-themed villagers to add a unique style to their next game.
4 Wolf Link
The Hero Of Twilight
- Birthday: Dec. 2
- Zodiac: Sagittarius
- Favorite Song: K.K. Western
Wolf Link, also called W. Link, is a smug wolf villager based on the Hero of Twilight from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. He could join your town from your campsite in New Leaf if certain Legend of Zelda amiibos were scanned.
His house in New Leaf resembles the prison cell where he first became playable. Wolf Link wasn't free to enjoy island life, unlike many other wolves in the series. A new game could give him the chance to play the leading role on a Zelda-themed island or town, paying homage to one of Nintendo's most iconic series. His specific Zelda-themed furniture could definitely help improve the place.
3 Ganon
The King Of Evil
- Birthday: Feb. 21
- Zodiac: Pisces
- Favorite Song: K.K. Dirge
No hero is complete without a proper villain, and this grumpy pig villager makes sure of that. He could move to your town in New Leaf if certain Legend of Zelda amiibos were scanned.
Ganon's house in New Leaf pays homage to the original Legend of Zelda where he first appeared, with additional twin thrones and two golden screens to show his status as the rightful king of the Gerudo. If you wanted to make a Zelda-themed town in a future Animal Crossing game, no Hyrule would be complete without its greatest antagonist.
2 Epona
Free-Spirited Steed
- Birthday: Nov. 21
- Zodiac: Scorpio
- Favorite Song: Wandering
Link's trusty steed galloped her way into New Leaf as a peppy horse villager. She could move to your town if certain Zelda amiibos were scanned.
Epona, the kind horse, has connections to her original home in Lon Lon Ranch from Ocarina of Time. This is evident through the Lon Lon Milk bottle and Cucco ornament in her home. Fans of horses and Zelda will appreciate having her in their Animal Crossing towns. She'd be a fitting companion for Wolf Link in a Zelda-themed island or town.
1 Medli
Wingless Bird
- Birthday: Dec. 13
- Zodiac: Sagittarius
- Birthday: K.K. Island
Medli, a young Rito from Wind Waker, is a bird villager who can move to your New Leaf town if certain amiibo are scanned.
Since Medli's appearance in Wind Waker, Rito have become more prominent in the Zelda series, appearing in Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity, and Tears of the Kingdom. In a future Animal Crossing game, Medli could watch over a Zelda-themed town from a high cliff, even without her wings. You could imagine her working with Pelly and Phyllis to deliver mail, like the Rito postal workers.
